It’s late Monday night and I am just now getting around to my employment post. I’ve been kinda busy, what with Middle son getting married and all.
Saturday started at 6:30 a.m. and was fairly hectic until it ended around 1:00 a.m. Sunday. Sunday morning started at 6:30 a.m. too, was even more hectic and ended around midnight. So when the phone rang at 5:30 this morning with a job offer to substitute I had to decline; I was just too worn out. I hung up and went back to sleep.
This doesn’t mean I didn’t work today; I just didn’t get paid for it. After Oldest son and girlfriend and their three doggies left town I swept the floors, washed the floor mats, sheets and towels and then vacuumed all the carpets.
Then Second son called to see what was up. He and girlfriend spent last week with us and then the weekend with Middle son chauffeuring him to the wedding and getting his car to the hotel for him and generally keeping him company leading up to the wedding. They weren’t quite ready to leave town. They wanted some more home cookin’.
Girlfriend and I made spaghetti, corn, garlic toast and salad. The five of us ate a nice meal and then watched a really funny movie, The Incredible Burt Wonderstone. I recommend it highly. From the previews, I really hadn’t been interested, but I had a Redbox promo code and Second son wanted to see it.
Youngest son heads out tomorrow for his two weeks in the field. Not sure when Second son and girlfriend and their dogie will go home, but it will be too soon and the house will get oh so quiet again.
I may not have gotten paid for today, but I did work. And it’s the best job in the world, motherhood.
